Mission and Vision

TUJMS promotes scientific rigour, reproducibility, and responsible research conduct across the medical and biomedical sciences.

Scope of the Journal

TUJMS publishes original and scholarly work across a broad range of health and biomedical disciplines, including:

• Clinical and preclinical medicine (e.g. internal medicine, surgery, paediatrics)
• Public health, community medicine, and epidemiology
• Pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences
• Biomedical sciences, molecular biology, and laboratory diagnostics
• Dentistry and oral health sciences
• Nursing, midwifery, and allied health professions
• Medical technology, digital health, and health informatics

Submissions must demonstrate scientific originality, methodological robustness, ethical compliance, and relevance to health sciences.

Out of Scope

Manuscripts that are purely descriptive, lack scientific rigour, or report local audits without generalisable insight are generally not considered for publication, unless they demonstrate clear methodological innovation or relevance beyond the local setting.

Global Scope and Inclusivity

TUJMS welcomes submissions from researchers worldwide and is committed to inclusive and equitable scholarly publishing. The journal actively supports contributions from under-represented, conflict-affected, or resource-limited regions.

All manuscripts are assessed solely on scientific merit, irrespective of authors’ nationality, institutional affiliation, or first language.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

TUJMS is committed to diversity and equity in all editorial and publication processes. Recognising that English may not be the first language for many authors, the journal:

• Evaluates submissions based on scientific quality rather than linguistic style
• Encourages clear and accessible academic communication
• Seeks geographic and professional diversity within its Editorial Board and reviewer pool
• Guides language support where appropriate

Article Types

TUJMS considers the following article categories:

All article types must comply with the journal’s ethical, reporting, and data-transparency requirements.

Editorial Process and Peer Review

• All submissions undergo double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers.
• Initial editorial screening assesses journal scope, ethical approval, reporting quality, formatting compliance, and originality.
• Reviewers evaluate manuscripts for originality, methodological rigour, reproducibility, ethical standards, clarity, and relevance.
• Editorial decisions are based on reviewer recommendations and independent editorial judgement.
• Guest editors may be appointed for special issues and are subject to the same governance and ethical standards.
• Reviewers must declare conflicts of interest, maintain confidentiality, and provide constructive, unbiased feedback.
• Authors are required to respond to all reviewer comments during revision.

Editorial Governance and Independence

• TUJMS is overseen by an independent Editorial Board responsible for editorial policy, quality assurance, and ethical oversight.
• The Editor-in-Chief holds final responsibility and authority for all editorial decisions.
• Editorial Board members serve renewable three-year terms and must declare conflicts of interest annually.
• Editorial decisions are made independently of the journal owner, publisher, sponsors, or any external influence.
• All editorial policies, including authorship, peer review, appeals, misconduct handling, corrections, and data sharing, are publicly available to ensure transparency.

Appeals and Complaints

Authors may appeal editorial decisions or submit complaints regarding editorial processes. All appeals and complaints are handled through a documented procedure aligned with COPE guidance. Acknowledgement of receipt is provided, and cases are reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief or an independent editor where conflicts of interest may arise.

Transparency and Ethical Standards

TUJMS adheres to the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing promoted by COPE, DOAJ, OASPA, and WAME. The journal provides clear public information on:

• Peer-review procedures
• Open-access policy and licensing
• Publication fees (none)
• Conflicts of interest
• Corrections, retractions, and expressions of concern

TUJMS requires a Data Availability Statement for all research articles. Where data cannot be shared due to ethical, legal, or privacy restrictions, authors must clearly state the reason and describe conditions for controlled access where feasible. The journal encourages FAIR data-sharing practices and transparent preprint disclosure.

Publication Fees and Commercial Independence

TUJMS charges no submission fees and no article processing charges (APCs).
